Why audience voting exists only in the final
Judging differs by round. Friday qualifiers and Saturday's main event are decided by judges. The 60% judges plus 40% audience-vote system applies only to Sunday's final.
The reason is simple: Sunday is when every competition comes together, and when paid audience members enter to see that stage. It is not a round where you persuade only judges; you must move first-time audience members too.
How to prepare by genre

You do not need to learn a new genre; you need to practice laying your existing skills over salsa rhythm. Listen often to salsa percussion and musical breaks, and unfamiliar music becomes a new beat.

The decisive moment is taking control of music alone, without a partner. Experiment with how your salsa moves sound over freestyle beats. Your familiar ability to interpret rhythm is a weapon in any music.

There are no genre rules to follow in this battle. Interpreting music in your own language is itself a weapon. On a mixed-genre floor, a distinct bodily language stands out more clearly.
