Staying fit for 3 days of the festival: How to make it to Sunday without exhausting yourself on Friday

Want to buy a full pass but aren't confident you can last 3 days? Securing sleep time, timing of drinking water, not skipping meals, and short stretching and resting moments were organized according to the flow of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The difference between someone who completes the 3-day race and someone who is exhausted on the first day is more about the order than physical strength. · SIDF 공식 이미지

Quick answer

The short version

People who complete the 3-day race don't do it because they have extra stamina, but because they don't use it all on the first day. Don't treat Friday night like it's your last night, schedule your sleep time in advance, and don't put off drinking and eating. When you get a signal that you've overworked yourself, taking a break right then and there will save you the whole next day. Since each person's physical condition is different, the order in this article is only a guideline and is not the correct answer.

A person lying in bed at noon on a Saturday thinking, “I can’t go today.”

Anyone contemplating an entire pass usually has one scene in their head. This is the scene where you get so excited on Friday night that you play until the end, but on Saturday you miss the entire workshop because you can't move.

That scene doesn't happen because you don't have enough stamina. It happens because you don't decide how much to use on the first day.

SIDF lasts three days from Friday to Sunday, with workshops, performances, socials, battles, and live concerts. This article views the three days as one long day and only deals with where to place sleep, water, food, and rest periods.

Friday night is the first of three nights. If you use it as if it were your last night, the remaining two days will disappear.

The first thing to decide is not dancing, but sleeping time

When making a timetable, if you fill it with workshops and social events, sleep gets pushed to the remaining time. Reverse the order. First, write down what time you go to bed and what time you wake up, and then put the program in the remaining space.

On days when there is a night program, it is inevitable that you will go to bed late. If so, leave open the option of giving up the first class the next morning. It is better to hear two clearly than to fall asleep half-asleep after hearing three.

Decide in advance about sleep

  • Write down what time you will return to your accommodation on Friday and Saturday.
  • Distinguish in advance which days you will listen to the first program in the morning and which days you will skip it.
  • Calculate the travel time from your accommodation to the event venue as a round trip.
  • Decide on one place each day to sit or lie down and rest for about 30 minutes during the day.

Water and rice are most expensive “later”

If you're on the social floor, you'll be late to notice your thirst. I like the music, I'm curious about the next song, and I get to chat with someone I just met.

So, rather than using thirst as a signal, it is simpler to use the clock as a signal. Leave the floor once an hour to drink water, and always keep a bottle within reach.

The moment you skip a meal, your evening changes. Since there is a workshop nearby, it is easy to miss meal time, so putting a quick snack in your bag will give you options. However, what food suits you best varies from person to person, so take what you normally eat.

Do not stretch for long periods of time, but rather briefly and often.

It's hard to find time to do 20 minutes of stretching at an event. Instead, it becomes feasible to stick to a few minutes in the gaps that already exist, such as before or after a workshop, before going on social media, or right after returning to your accommodations.

  1. 01

    Before the workshop starts

Slowly rotate your ankles and wrists, and relax your neck and shoulders. Do not force it to stretch by giving a bounce, but only move within a comfortable range.

  2. 02

    between classes

Stand up from a sitting position, take a few steps, and lightly stretch the back of your calves and thighs. I also drink water here.

  3. 03

    Before going social

If you change shoes, check at this time. If your feet are already uncomfortable, you don't have to force yourself to start with the first song.

  4. 04

    After arriving at the accommodation

After showering, sit with your legs stretched out and move slowly for a few minutes. If you don't have time, it's better to skip it and sleep.

If you decide to take a break after you are tired, it is already too late. In social settings, a self-rule like “If you dance three songs, you take a break for one song” works better than a clock.

If you see Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as one flow, it becomes easier to make a choice.

If you consider each of the three days as an independent day, you will use the maximum amount each day. If you look at it as one long schedule, the question arises, “Where should I spend today and where should I save?”

Baseline for 3-day physical strength distribution
day of the weekToday's goalplace to save
fridayAdjust your body and get used to the atmosphereStaying until dawn, taking unreasonable workshops in succession
SaturdayFocus on the program you want to do mostUnreasonable travel to a time zone of little interest
sundayFinish and say goodbye with all your strength leftHold on until the end, forgetting to go to work the next day

On Sundays, there are also programs you can sit down and watch, like THE SAUCE Battle. If your body is heavy, even if you shift your weight to the side you look at that day, you will still have completed three days.

Even if you change your focus to sightseeing on Sunday, the three-day itinerary is complete.

Things in your bag that save your stamina

3-day participant bag

  • Water bottle with a tight lid and extra towels
  • At least one top a day to change into when wet with sweat
  • Comfortable shoes, change pairs if possible
  • Simple snacks I usually eat
  • Mobile phone battery and transportation information to and from accommodation

Avoiding wearing new shoes for the first time on the first day of the event will make the next three days much easier. Choose clothes based on movement rather than photos.

The way to enjoy all three days is not to do your best all three days, but to not lose even one of the three days.

Frequently asked questions

I have low stamina. Can I buy the full pass?

If you let go of the assumption that you have to complete the entire program, your options will expand. There are times when you can participate based on viewing, and the schedule continues even if you take a break in the middle. However, as your physical condition and travel burden vary greatly from person to person, please check the included program on the official ticket page before deciding.

If you stay on social all the time on Friday night, will Saturday be difficult?

It's different for each person. If you plan to listen to a program the next morning, it is safer to set a return time in advance, and if you plan to save Saturday morning, you can stay up late. The important thing is not to make decisions on the fly.

What should I do if I get sick in the middle of the day?

Immediately stop any painful movement and rest. If discomfort persists or interferes with walking and daily movements, do not push yourself further and consult a specialist if necessary. This article is a summary of general lifestyle rules and is not medical advice.
